Dear Fairview Families,

I hope you are having a nice spring thus far. Spring is a season of growth and we are looking forward to even more academic and social growth in the upcoming weeks of the school year. State testing (STAR) begins for grades 2 through 6 at Fairview on April 30^th. We will be testing on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. STAR test results are very important for your child and for Fairview. Please ensure that your child gets plenty of sleep at night and eats a good breakfast each morning. Also, arriving to school on time is key for students to get off to a good start each day, not only during testing, but everyday. The three main components of education are academics, behavior, and attendance. If your child works hard in class, asks for help, does homework, follows school rules, and has good attendance, he or she should do very well in school in preparation for the next levels of junior high, high school, and college. Fairview prides itself on having a high level of academic rigor for students to be challenged in the classroom. Even though spring is in the air, we still have a lot of teaching and learning to do at Fairview so please continue to monitor your child’s progress, remind him or her to follow school rules, and keep in good communication with teachers to ensure a successful spring for our child.

Espero que hasta el momento hayan disfrutado de la Primavera. La Primavera es una estación de crecimiento y estamos mirando adelante al crecimiento académico y social en las próximas semanas del año escolar. El examen Estatal (STAR) comienza para los grados 2 a 6 en Fairview el 30 de Abril. Los exámenes serán los martes, miércoles, y jueves. Los resultados de los exámenes STAR son muy importantes para su niño y para Fairview. Asegúrese por favor de que su niño duerma bien y lo suficiente y coma un buen desayuno cada mañana. También, el llegar a la escuela a tiempo es una clave importante para que los estudiantes tengan un buen comienzo cada día, no sólo durante la prueba, pero diario. Los tres componentes principales de la educación son académico, comportamiento, y asistencia. Si su niño trabaja duro en clase, pide ayuda, hace su tarea, sigue las reglas de la escuela, y tiene buena asistencia, él o ella debe hacer muy bien en preparación de los siguiente niveles de escuela  como escuela intermedia, high school, y el colegio. Fairview se enorgullece en tener un de alto nivel rigoroso académico para que los estudiantes sean retados en clase. Aun cuando la primavera está en el aire, todavía tenemos mucho que enseñar y que aprender en Fairview, continúe supervisando el progreso de su niño, recuérdele que siga las  reglas de la escuela, y mantenga la buena comunicación con los maestros para asegurar una primavera exitosa para nuestros niños.

Come learn American Sign Language every Friday, 2:00 PM at school.  Come practice the alphabet, numbers, and main vocabulary (family, foods, etc).

At 10:10 AM, on September 21, 2012, Endeavor flew slowly over the northern hills towards Fairview Elementary School.  Escorted by a fighter jet, the Endeavor, on the back of a jumbo jet, banked 100 yards away from Fairview as it made its historic last flight towards the Golden Gate Bridge.  Excited students of all ages yelled cheers to the last space shuttle as it made its final voyage around the Bay Area.
